Beware! Porn spam in Twitter!
Did I do something wrong that our @pokernews_live Twitter account is followed by some suspicious twitter users with kinky names and porn avatars? Take a look at today's (June 3rd, 2009) followers list!
This is a printscreen of the entire page. Only 3 of them are the normal ones. The other 9 are spammers.
In a day or 2 they get closed and removed, so that’s OK, but if I really care about the number of my followers and it decreases by 20 every day, my reputation is hurt.
I am tired of blocking these "Britney sex tapes" and "horny kitty", so I really do not know what to do. So far I have not seen any official response from Twitter about such porn attacks. PCWorld magazine warns everybody not to click their links and not to participate in any activity these fake sex spam accounts request. The best way to fight with them is to ignore them. Twitter is looking for the ways to improve their security as well, because these accounts seem to be created randomly by some robot, not a human.
